After dental school he performed his duties as a dentist and officer in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Major. With various advanced dental responsibilities, he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas with the 1st Cavalry Division for over 3 years and also served in Germany for nearly 4 years.

In 1988 Dr. Gray returned to Ashland and worked with his father Dr. Paul H. Gray who had started the original Gray family dentistry practice in 1955. In 2003, Dr. Gray's father turned over the running of the dental practice to his son and the practice was expanded and relocated in May of 2007.

Dr. Gray resides in the Ashland area with his wife Kim and their daughter Taylor. His interests include boating, golfing, and cruising on his BMW motorcycle.

His professional memberships include the American Dental Association (ADA), the Kentucky Dental Associations (KDA), the Eastern Kentucky Dental Society (EKDS), and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). He joined the Mid-American Orthodontics Society in the early 90's and has been providing traditional braces for over 20 years. In addition to providing orthopedic appliances, Dr. Gray also provides "invisible" braces for patients not wanting their braces to be seen.

With the office expansion and relocation, Dr. Gray invested in the latest technology to best serve the Ashland population. His office utilizes digital x-rays (which use 80% less radiation than traditional film x-rays) and other time saving technologies. Additionally, Dr. Gray provides you with the opportunity to see what your actually dental conditions are with the use of digital radiography and digital photography...including a tiny intra-oral camera that will allow you to see what your dental needs are with close-up photography.

Dr. Gray's philosophy is to treat you the same way he would expect to be treated and the same way that he would treat you if you were family. As a legacy dental practice serving Ashland for almost 60 years, many of the patients in the practice are 3rd and 4th generations of families being treated in a gentle and caring way... just like family.

In general, Dr. Gray believes his philosophy is somewhat conservative. He doesn't aggressively treat or "over-treat". He addresses periodontal needs with conservative and preventative treatment...which allows you to keep your own teeth and early prevention can allow you to treat your gums without surgery. Dr. Gray's philosophy is that prevention is always better and less expensive than treating a more advanced or diseased condition.
